‘Slow and steady wins the race’. Aesop’s fable is well known and not without reason. This old adage is not just a children’s story, but an important business philosophy.
There are a few things that can be expanded upon within this proverb. Approaching something slowly in business doesn’t mean lazily. Slowly as opposed to quickly, but with equal intention and consistency. This is key. Consistency is greatly rewarded in business as it garners trust in your service.
Steadiness can also mean consistency, but it can also refer to a steadiness of pace. Adhering to a pace that was set early in the lifecycle of the business allows the business to settle into a rhythm. The business may wane or rise above this initial pace, but in both cases it is important to try and maintain the initial momentum and not push too far forward before the business is ready.
