University is a great place to figure out what you want to do in life, but it isn’t known for giving people a solid understanding of what they’ll have to contend with in the world of business. While this holds true in most situations, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a bad idea to start up a business immediately upon graduating.
People start up a business for a few different reasons. It could be that they just really want to run their own business, in which it would be best to get a few years of experience in work and established businesses before you try to start your own. They may also want to try starting a business in a field they have a lot of expertise in, in which case it kind of depends upon them having experience in work before they can do it themselves. Lastly, they could have a great idea that they want to base their business upon. With this situation, getting your original idea out there as soon as possible could ensure a higher chance of success, so it may be a good idea to start the business immediately in this case.
